The U.S. Department Of Energy (Doe) To Promote New Wind-Power Blades R&D Project

Recently, the U.S. department of energy (DOE) selected GE and Wetzel Engineering two companies, to carry out the two development projects of large wind turbine blades.
The U.S. department of energy, said the two R&D project will deal with more than 60 m fan blades in manufacture, transportation, assembly and installation challenges.
Wetzel Engineering company cooperating with the United States department of energy's national renewable energy laboratory (NREL), northern power system (Northern Power Systems), TPI composites company and NextEra company, will develop a called "SparBlade" blade, which material is lightweight composite materials and space frame structure and will be assembly at the scene.
Said the U.S. department of energy (DOE), it can produce 62 ~ 74 m long blade for big megawatt and tower drum wind turbines by using the new technique. 
"The new technology is expected to create a performance, a lower cost lower weight wind turbine blades, in order to significantly reduce transportation costs."
GE company, cooperating with NREL and TPI composites company, will design a connection wind blade which can be assembled at the scene, in order to satisfy the next generation of fan structure design requirements and also reduce the transportation cost.
The project is part of the clean energy production plan for the department of energy (doe). Its purpose is to improve the competitiveness of the United States in clean energy production, and American manufacturing competitiveness through increasing energy productivity.
